Design for Learning: Waiting for Superman vs Empowering Superheros.

The waiting for superman in the title is a reference to a movie that examines the state of the American education system. Startl was set up to help digital media companies to move from idea to funding and into learners’ hand. The three superheros referenced in the presentation were:

1. Learnbat (now Easle Learning) who provide interative online tutoring for SATs. Students and tutors are able to track progress online and synchronous video tutorials are provided for students. http://www.learnbat.com/
2. Mind Snacks which is a mobile games based company that provide foreign language game tutorials http://www.mindsnacks.com/
3. Project Noah is a mobiel based app that enables amateurs and researchers to collect natural scientific field data. Project Noah was used to crowd-source data during the US oil spill. http://www.projectnoah.org/

Not quite what I thought the presentation was going to be about, serves me right for falling for quirky presentation titles :)
