Professor Glynis Cousin University of Wolverhampton Key Note

Glynis started by talking about University Soles and how these had changed over the years along with language and now key terms were culture, diversity and inclusivity.

The focus was then how we classify people and that whilst this was not always bad we often used superficial marks that singled people out in inappropriate ways. People change over time as well but once someone has been put in a box it is hard to change.

Glynis then discussed a range of projects that have been undertaken by her and others looking at diversity and groups. These included examples of groups where students had worked together to understand each others culture. This often meant focusing on what was similar rather than different and this was a good way to approach diversity.
