Why does the Value of interdisciplinarity that lecturers report not transfer to their programmes the session Susannah and I prepared

This session was focused on some of the issues around having interdisciplinary learning in programmes and some of the barriers against some of the benefits. The focus here was on how programmes such as the MA Academic Practice are in fact interdisciplinary in nature and students all learn from each other and that is what they like and value and yet they do not see this when thinking  about their own programme.

We also discussed the issue of having brought researchers together for the research development days although staff said the only research in departments was valuable.

There were ten attendees and there was a great discussion about how people had not thought about their learning and teaching programmes in this way and how this could be harnessed to take forward these types of initiatives. There was some great suggestions about assessments and problem based learning.
